Terms of use

The rules for renting and buying dresses at Kiraia.

    Last updated: Wednesday 16 September

    1. Purpose

Kiraia is a platform for renting and selling dresses for special occasions. Every dress is dropped off, checked, collected and returned at the Kiraia hub: there is no delivery, no meeting between members and no online payment.

These terms apply to anyone using the website, whether renting, buying or offering a dress.

    2. Definitions

    • Hub: Kiraia's physical location where dresses are stored and where pickups, returns and payments take place.
    • Customer: the person renting or buying a dress.
    • Owner: the person who entrusts a dress to the hub for rental, sale or both, with the hub's approval.
    • Order: all the dresses confirmed at once, identified by an ORD- reference and a QR code.
    • Dress: the physical item, identified by a DR- reference and checked by the hub.

    3. Account

Registration is free. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your password confidential. One account belongs to one person.

Offering a dress is reserved for accounts to which the hub has granted partner access.

    4. Booking and purchase

You add one or more dresses to your cart, then confirm. If the dress is available at the hub, the booking is immediate; otherwise the website tells you and nothing is reserved. The cart alone does not reserve anything.

The amount shown at confirmation is fixed for your order. You receive an order reference and a QR code to show at the hub. The QR code identifies the order and contains no personal data.

    5. Pickup and return at the hub

You collect the dress at the hub on the chosen date, during opening hours. The hub may ask for an ID.

A rented dress is returned to the hub no later than the planned return date. You can request an extension from your space if the dress is free. If you are late, you are notified and the dress remains due; a surcharge may be requested at the counter.

If you do not show up on the planned day, the booking is released after the next opening day.

    6. Payment

You collect the dress at the hub on the chosen date, during opening hours. The hub may ask for ID. The balance and any security deposit are paid at the counter at that moment.

A rented dress is returned to the hub by the planned return date at the latest, during opening hours. You can request an extension from your account if the dress is free. If you are late, a daily late fee applies at the rate set out in the rules in force; past the period stated there the dress is considered lost, the hub contacts you and the security deposit is not refunded.

A customer who does not show up on the planned day has her booking released after the next opening day.

    7. Cancellation

No payment is made on the site and no bank details are collected. Everything is settled at the hub counter (card or cash).

After booking, a deposit is paid at the counter; the balance and any security deposit are paid at pickup. The security deposit is returned when you bring the dress back. The amounts and percentages in force are shown on the rules page and repeated before every confirmation.

    8. Caring for the dress and condition on return

You can cancel a rental from your account. Cancelling is free of charge up to the deadline set out in the rules in force, repeated before every confirmation; after that, a percentage of the dress price remains due and is settled at the counter.

A purchased dress is set aside for the period shown (48 hours by default); without pickup within that period, the purchase is cancelled and the dress becomes available again.

    9. Owners

The owner describes her dress accurately and drops it off at the hub. The hub checks it on receipt and may refuse it. An accepted dress stays at the hub as long as it is offered.

The owner can pause her dress or ask to take it back; if the dress is already booked, it is returned after the last booking. Prices, hub fees and the settlement of amounts due are agreed at drop-off; no money is transferred through the website.

    10. Reviews

After a return or a purchase, the customer can rate the dress and her experience. The dress review is published on the dress page at the end of the review period, without a name; the experience review is read only by Kiraia. Kiraia may hide an off-topic review but never changes its text.

    11. Messages

Messages let you ask a question about a dress. The Kiraia team reads them. Exchanging phone numbers, email addresses, links or social media accounts is blocked: every transaction goes through the hub.

    12. Liability

Kiraia takes care of the dresses while they are at the hub and checks their condition each time they pass through. Kiraia is not liable for improper use of the dress by the customer, nor for temporary unavailability of the website.

    13. Deleting your account

You can delete your account from your settings once your rentals, purchases and dresses at the hub are completed. Your personal details are then erased; the history required by law is kept without your identity.

    14. Personal data

How your data is processed is described in the privacy policy.

    15. Changes and governing law

Kiraia may change these terms; the applicable version is the one published on the website on the day of the order. These terms are governed by Belgian law. In case of disagreement, please contact the hub first to find an amicable solution.
