Caftan or takchita?

The caftan is a long one-piece dress, often in velvet, brocade or embroidered chiffon. The takchita is made of an under-dress (tahtiya) and an open over-dress (dfina), held by a belt (mdamma). The takchita is the outfit for grand occasions; the caftan suits a henna night, an engagement, Eid or an evening out.

Which celebration

Moroccan wedding, as a guest: a takchita or a dressy caftan, in a colour that is not the bride's.
Henna night: a light caftan, often green, red or gold, easy to wear seated.
Engagement (khotba): an elegant, understated caftan.
Eid: a daytime caftan, comfortable, to wear with family.

Sizes, belt, accessories

Each piece states its real size and measurements; many caftans fit from 36 to 44 thanks to their cut, and some pieces go up to 60. The belt and accessories supplied are listed. At the fitting, you check the length with your shoes.
